Photo of Kat coming soonThe Village Table is my love letter to Croydon.
The Village Table started with a simple thought: what if there was somewhere you could walk into on your own and never feel alone? Somewhere that felt less like a business and more like belonging.
I've called Croydon home for over a decade, and somewhere along the way this wonderfully complicated, colourful, beautifully diverse place became part of who I am. Beneath all the noise, there's so much beauty here: so much talent, warmth and untold potential. Sometimes you just need somewhere for it all to come together.
So I wanted to create a space for life's simplest, most meaningful moments. Where a new mum could find her village, a creative could find their audience, and someone having a difficult day could find a little comfort without ever having to ask for it. Somewhere art, music, food, culture, wellbeing and community could live together naturally.
Of course there's good coffee, lovely food and a place to get some work done. But those are just the beginning. What really matters is what happens around the table: the connections we make, the stories we share and the memories we create without even realising.
The Village Table is my love letter to Croydon. And like any good love letter, it comes straight from the heart. There's always room for one more around our table.

The Village Table started with a simple thought: what if there was somewhere you could walk into on your own and never feel alone?
Somewhere that felt less like a business and more like belonging. Somewhere you didn't need a reason to visit, an invitation to turn up, or someone to come with. A place where you could simply exist, exactly as you are, and feel like there was a little corner of the world that had room for you.
I've called Croydon home for over a decade, and somewhere along the way, this wonderfully complicated, colourful, beautifully diverse place became part of who I am. I've seen its challenges, its changes and its contradictions, but I've also seen its heart. The creativity that spills out of unexpected places, the resilience of its people, the different cultures that live alongside one another, and the extraordinary things that happen when people come together.
And I think that's what I've always loved most about Croydon. Beneath all the noise and everything people think they know about it, there's so much beauty here. So much talent, warmth, ambition, history and untold potential. Sometimes you just need somewhere for it all to come together.
I've always believed that some of life's most meaningful moments happen in the simplest ways. A conversation with a stranger that stays with you. A song that makes you forget about everything else for a few minutes. Laughing until your stomach hurts. Meeting someone who makes you feel a little less alone. Or just sitting somewhere with a coffee, watching the world go by and feeling, for once, that you don't need to be anywhere else.
I wanted to create a space for more of those moments.
A place where you could work quietly in the morning and find yourself staying for an unexpected conversation in the afternoon. Where a new mum could find her village, a creative could find their audience, a small business owner could find their next opportunity, and someone having a difficult day could find a little comfort without ever having to ask for it.
Somewhere art, music, food, culture, wellbeing and community could live together naturally. Where people of different ages, backgrounds and walks of life could cross paths, share stories, learn from one another and perhaps leave with a little more than they came in with.
And, if I'm being completely vulnerable, I think I created The Village Table partly because it's the kind of place I've needed myself.
Life can get incredibly busy, and somewhere between working, building, giving, caring and trying to keep everything together, it's easy to forget that we're human beings who need connection too. We all want to feel seen, heard, welcomed and understood. We all need somewhere we can put down the weight of the world for a little while and simply be.
I wanted to create that feeling for other people. And perhaps a little bit for myself too.
So, The Village Table was born. Not just as a coffee lounge, but as a space filled with possibility. A home for conversations, creativity, laughter, music, friendships, new beginnings and all the beautifully ordinary moments that make life extraordinary.
Of course, there's good coffee, lovely food and a place to get some work done. But those things are just the beginning. What really matters is what happens around the table. The connections we make, the stories we share, the people we meet and the memories we create without even realising we're making them.
Because I don't believe community is simply about living in the same place. It's about looking out for one another, celebrating each other, making space for our differences and reminding people that they matter.
And that's what I hope The Village Table will always be. A place where everyone has a seat, where strangers can become friends, where ideas can become something wonderful, and where people leave feeling just a little lighter than when they arrived.
The Village Table is my love letter to Croydon. To its people, its spirit, its beautiful imperfections and everything it has yet to become.
And like any good love letter, it comes straight from the heart.
There's always room for one more around our table.

It's about the people who bring them to life. The artists, dreamers, small business owners, neighbours, parents, carers and wonderful humans who make this community what it is. We're here to make space for all of it. And all of you.
